Hey Marketing, Let's Change the F**king World

Step into the conversation with the Marketing Society of Ireland, where culture meets policy change.

At Fuel, Camden Street, we’ll unpack how culture-led marketing is shaping advocacy, public policy, and community engagement in fresh, practical ways. Join Simon Gunning (CALM), Noel Quinn (GAA), and moderator Viv Chambers (Bricolage) as they share real stories of how marketing is making its mark in the evolving world of policy and social impact.

Whether you’re in creative, strategy, or media, this is your chance to connect, learn, and spark ideas with peers who are driving change—informally, collaboratively, and with purpose.

Speakers:

Simon Gunning is CEO of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), where he’s redefined how charities engage with culture to drive systemic change. Simon’s approach transformed CALM into a cultural movement, leveraging partnerships with ITV, Spotify, and adam&eveDDB for campaigns like Project 84 and The Last Photo. His work has influenced UK policy, including the appointment of a Suicide Prevention Minister and the launch of the Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit. Simon will share how marketing can be a catalyst for lobbying and policy reform, demonstrating new ways for brands and organizations to make a tangible impact in the policy arena.

Noel Quinn is Head of GAA+ and GAA Marketing, bringing a grassroots perspective on how cultural institutions support wellbeing and shape social norms. Noel’s work emphasizes the GAA’s role in fostering community connection and player support, with initiatives like Where We All Belong. He’ll discuss how sport and culture build social capital and influence public behaviour, offering a localised, Irish counterpoint to CALM’s UK-based campaigns.

Viv Chambers, founder of Bricolage, will moderate and contribute cultural insight expertise. Viv blends anthropology, semiotics, and immersive research to help brands understand their cultural role, with experience moderating Marketing Society panels and shaping themes like “Culture as Community” and “Decoding Brand Roles in Culture.”
