Having a mentor is consistently called out by the worlds top marketers as one of the most important aspects to career development. We are delighted to launch Mentoring Programme which will enable our younger marketing professionals gain a deeper understanding of our professional marketing world, practices and skills, and to share knowledge and build confidence.
WHAT IS IT?
The Marketing Societys Member's Mentoring Programme.
A programme with the sole purpose of passing on marketing knowledge, experience and advice. Through this confidential programme, we aim to enable our younger marketing professionals gain a deeper understanding of our professional marketing world, practices and skills, and to share knowledge and build confidence.Only Members may participate in our Mentoring Programme.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The programme will be founded upon a traditional mentor/mentee relationship so we are looking to match:
Junior, less experienced marketeers/agency side personnel who are in the early years of their career journey (<6 years experience), looking for career direction & guidance
More senior, experienced marketeer/agency side personnel who are happy to give guidance and direction – to act as an experienced and trusted advisor to their mentee.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
For participating Mentees you can expect to receive feedback, get clarity on what you need for growth & development, learn new skills, gain knowledge, expand your network, and build your confidence.
For participating Mentors it is an opportunity to further improve your leadership skills, gain satisfaction from helping others, as well as offering an opportunity for self-reflection.
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME INVOLVE?
This is a 5 month programme with a 5 hour commitment by each mentor and mentee. This takes the form of 5 x 1 hour meetings, which we encourage to be in person meetings At the first meeting the dates & times for the next 4 meetings should be arranged.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF PARTICIPANTS?
Be open, ask questions, be clear in your needs, be committed. The mentee drives the relationship.
Listen, guide, be approachable, be available, remember who the relationship is about, set goals, share failures as well as successes, be honest.
WHAT IS NOT EXPECTED OF PARTICIPANTS?
This is not a recruitment process and is in no way related to job offers.
No commitment is expected on either side past the programme end date.
